What do I have here? This volume pedal came with a 1956 National D 8. Only 2 inches tall with great chrome and rubber feet. The pot reads 46446A A-0.2 ?EG covered by the solder I guess MEG. The plugs are Switchcraft. Works but a little scratchy. Any info would be great.

An original (not a reissue).

I have found that the pivot point of this Fender pedal makes it feel better for stand-up playing. And not as comfortable as a more familiar modern pedal, sitting down.

To each his own.

My feelings are just the opposite of Jon's. I find the center pivot far more comfortable than a rearward pivot, though I do tend to keep the pedal several inches behind the pedal board instead of fastened to it, like most players. One big benefit of the center pivot is that the pedal never fails to stay in place if you remove your foot, and it requires no tensioning device that can get out of whack or cause the pedal action to be stiffer than necessary.

A standard Fender passive volume pedal from the late 50's or 60's. I have one as well.

Make sure you treat the pot with cleaner/lube meant for electronics parts like Caig D5 or F5 - NOT "contact cleaner". "Cleaner-only types strip out the lubricants and ruin the pots.
