Cool! (Good price, too!)
A "Lap Steel Lapsteel"?
I guess that's what Laplanders must play! |

How could someone living in Hawaii get the type of guitar SO WRONG in the description ?

VINTAGE FENDER GUITAR LAP STEEL LAPSTEEL W/PEDALS+CASE |
An unusual guitar because the rods attach to the pedals in a different way to the "Norm" with these guitars.. as in the 400-800-1000 and 2000 with the "Brake Pedals"
It would appear that part of the rod is PERMANENTLY attached to the pedal, unlike the normal "Clip-on" end piece..
Anyone know the date this happened ?
Serial number 01814 .....

Looks like a totally original Fender 400, to me. I'd date it late '63 or very early '64, as it has almost all the "upgrades" that Fender had come up with by late 1964. The fitting in the pedal appears to just be a stud with an o-ring retainer. That was pretty standard, and a lot of other '60s era steels used it.
You have some rust, corrosion, and mildew, to clean off, and then some refinishing/painting on the metal parts, but that guitar's had very little playing or moving around, from the looks of it!
With absolutely no modifications and all the original pieces there, it's a perfect candidate for restoration. |

Well the reason I bought it is that I have an almost new bridge cover with the "F" on it, an almost new tuner pan and tuners, an almost new fretboard a brand new pick-up, and 6 pedals and rods for a 400..
So as long as the body cleans up OK, I'll be more than happy..
And Thanks Jody.. you're the real Knight of the Fender "Tweed".. |

That's the shotgun approach. Every word in the title will show up in various searches thus attracting more viewers. I often thought people didn't know their a$$ from their elbow because of descriptions like "Dobro slide steel guitar." That's four catagories right there.
There is a method to the madness.......oh yeah, congrats on the lap lapsteel. May you incite many lap dances......
