Richard G. Kinney, age 85, of Nekoosa died Thursday January 11, 2018 at his home after a courageous three year battle with multiple myeloma.
Richard was born April 10, 1932 in Medford, WI to Richard and Lillian (Vladik) Kinney. He served in the US Navy from 1949 to 1953 during the Korean War. On October 29, 1977 he married Margaret Ciesielski in Stevens Point. Richard was employed by Nekoosa Papers, Inc. (Domtar) for 38 years.
Richard was a lifelong musician. He played with the Poor Boys Band and Denny Ertl and the Country Boys. He also played with the Cowboy Union Jam at McMillian Library, the Country Pals at the Adams Community Center, and played back-up music for the Senior Sing-a-long at the Lowell Center. He recorded six albums during his lifetime and taught many of us how to play.
Richard was a talented wood worker and craftsman, selling at local craft shows and flea markets, most notably at the Adams Flea Market, for over 20 years. He loved his family dearly and his grandchildren were a source of great joy. |
