Topic: Looking for someone to adjust/fix a Carter in East Texas |

The barrel nut and attached rod popped out of pull finger on my up knee lever today with a big bang. My best guess is I've adjusted the pull too short and I've damaged the finger itself. It worked well until today. Any recommendations regarding someone who I might find to work on it within a few hours drive from me in East Texas. I'm about halfway between Shreveport, LA and Dallas, TX.

If it happened at the pull finger (bellcrank), the little brass pull pin (shaped like a "dog bone" of barbell) probably broke. That it the Achilles heel of the Carter. The friction between the stainless steel rod and the brass pin can make the pin break in two. It's not hard to fix if you can get a pin. Al Brisco has Carters old stock. He has parts, but requires a $40 minimum order.
My thoughts are assumptions based on my history with my Carter. Broke 2 of those. Both on stage. OUCH!

The rod and pin coming from the up knee lever is the one that is pulling loose with a popping sound. This is what it looked like before the problem started. My original post wrongly stated that it was the left knee lever. It’s the up knee lever between the e and f levers.

i wasn't able to make it pull far enough with the wound string so i put things back as they were(or so I thought) and strung it with an unwound string. It has worked fine for the last week or so until yesterday. I obviously didn't get it back to the way it was and must have had something too tight. Not the first time I've paid the "fool tax" but i guess thats sometimes part of learning.
