What a kind, warm person Wes was. It's so cool to be a fly on the wall to listen to these pros at work. The pianist so quickly assimilates the changes and then they all play the tune so well. Astoundingly good solo by Wes with all the hallmarks of his greatness and the logical, conversational theme and variations structure that was his trademark.

Didn't take them too long to gain altitude!
I really need to listen to more jazz, I'm a bit ashamed I didn't know that song and its a "standard" apparently. Has snatches of "Four" in there. |
