Hi there,

Just marvelling once again at the big E's sound on the old Little Jimmy Dickens sides "Fireball Mail," and "I'm Coming Over Tonight."

Any ideas as to what tuning he used at this time?

Thanks,

TL

this is the guitar -- triple 8 Bigsby -- three pedals I think (not sure which necks / strings were pulled, but I'll bet one was the Isaacs change)

quote from Buddy:
Quote:
Starting with the top string, the E9 tuning on that little sucker was E-B-G#-F#-D-B-G#-E. The C6th on the middle neck was E-C-A-G-E-C-A-F. The inside neck was an inverted tuning E-C#-G#-E--A#-F#-D#-F#. The seventh string (D#) was one half tone below the first E string and the eighth (F#) was one tone above.

I see on that one picture that Buddy has his volume pedal and right leg outside of the steel guitar. I didn't know he'd ever played that way! I think Kayton Roberts still does that....JH in Va.
