I have a 1983 Zum U-12. I need to change the setup and I have a limited set of tools (I had a break in and they by passed all my guitars and took my tool boxes).
I have all the necessary parts from Bruce to do what I want but before I go out and buy a whole set of wrenches can someone tell me the exact size I need to change the bell cranks around?
if you can think of any thing else I may need I'm open for suggestions.

Ollin,
Why don't you give Bruce Zumsteg a call. I'm sure he can tell you exactly what size allen wrenches and other tools, you might need to change her over. His phone number is on the Zum website. |

Zum fone : 816 - 380 4568
do as John suggests Ollin
i changed some bell cranks & a few things around on my Zum
all i needed were allen wrenchs , small sized wrenches, screudrivers & a some type of needle nose plyers
it's not too difficult to work on a Zum if yer mechanically inclined
good luck & keep askin' here if needed Ollin |

I want to say 5/32 and/or 7/32 allen wrenches. Can't remember for sure. On the old style changers, it really helps to have "ball end" type allen wrenches 'cause they can be difficult to get to in some instances. |

Thank you for all the help so far.
This is ambitious for me. I would prefer to play rather than tinker with a steel. I am changing to the Newman universal setup. Currently its a unique setup that has some great changes but I am a new player (about 5-6 yrs off and on) and this is my first try at a universal, always played an S-10. I figured since I have a lot of Newman instructional material I should go with that tuning. |
