Zoot Alors! I have my earlier black/purply MSA `12/10 SuperSlide, with a pickup cleverly labled "SuperSlide." Sounds great, ducky etc. And I have another one, bit later, that somebody "improved" with an Alumitone. And, though, but, I am normally like the LEADER of the cheerleading squad for Alumitones - in six-string fingerish guitars - that beast in the MSA has finally defeated me. It's just TOO MUCH TREBLE, too much aluminum and dymondwood and BRIGHT BRIGHT BRIGHT. My little bag of tricks already included dumping 500K pots down to 300K (r-so) with a resistor, using cheep fat hi-imp guitar cords, etc. Applied to the beast, this has the effect of turning both the tone and volume knobs into on/off knobs. Does anyone KNOW what the pickup with the big white "Superslide" logo IS? It looks very George L-ish, but a 4.5" and which? I once asked this of MSA and was told "we used different pickups" so it could, maybe, be like an EMG hz45. Too? |
