If you like the single coil sound, don't forget to put in a switch that shorts the red/green pair to ground.
The 705 makes a guitar sound almost like a ten string Tele when in single coil mode.

Here is a diagram I drew up for 710 with split coil wiring. If you have 705s that split this will be the same.

The 705 also has a green wire: tie it to the red (if you don't, it won't work; the red is the end of one coil and the green the end of the other), and either isolate it or put it on the other side of a switch to ground.

Thanks for posting this. I'm going to try this wiring with my pedal steel when I rewire it, and I have a few questions...

Is the DPDT 3-way switch of Type 1 or Type 2 in the diagram below?

I'm not great at reading schematics, but it seems like the diagram assumes a Type 2 DPDT 3-way switch with this signal flow:
* In middle position, top pickup: white wire goes to pin 1, jumped to pin 2, sent to pin 4 by the switch.
* In middle position, bottom pickup: white wire goes to pin 6, jumped to pin 5, send to pin 3 by the switch.

Does this mean in the middle position the necks are in parallel? (not series) Is there a decrease in volume if the necks are wired in parallel?

I never use both necks at the same time... for the sake of simplicity in wiring, is it easy to make the middle position "both necks off"?

If you wire your switch as Mike Scaggs has shown above (jumper wire across 1&2, 3&4, 5&6) it won't matter if you have type 1 or type 2 on-on-on DPDT switch.
