Hello all, this forum is wonderful.
A thousand thanks to Bobby Lee.
I just got my new GFI S-10 3&4 from Steel Guitar Nashville. Man what a sweet guitar. Really nice in every respect. I notice the info that came with it says that all moving parts are either made from materials that need no lubrication or have been lubricated during manufacture to last the life of the instrument. Any GFI players out there, do you really not lube anything on this guitar?
Again, my thanks to Bobby Lee for the forum, Bobbe (and Gene!) for the GFI, and to all you guys for this great forum.
regards,

John,
I've had my GFI for a year and a half and have taken the instructions literally. No experience before that though, so I don't know what normally would need lubrication to compare. I will also be interested in the responses you generate. You are certainly right about the GFI being a great guitar.

John, I'm a GFI player myself. Last year, I bought a red and gold GFI Ultra D-10 from Steel Guitar Nashville and it's an amazing guitar! The tone on GFI steels is awesome. After playing an Emmons student model for four years, I decided to play a GFI. GFIs are definitely great guitars. Brett, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel, GFI Ultra D-10 |

Thank you gentlemen all.
I started on a Sho-Bud Maverick purchased new in 1973 from Hoffman's Music in Spokane, $499.
Natural maple cab & raised maple neck 3&1.
I was 21 years old and had played guitar since I was kid, but I thought that little steel was the coolest thing I ever saw. Then had a Pro-1,
and 2 different Excel U12's which I was quite happy with. Played 6 nights a week around the NW here for about 20 years. Hadn't played for a couple of years here and picked up a Carter Starter to start playing again, But this GFI...its a new animal. You guys know better than me. Man what a sweet guitar.
Sure am grateful for all your responses and be seein ya on the forum.

Hi John!
I remember seeing you over on the other side playing with the Jerry Andle band a long time ago. If I recall correctly you sold EXCEL guitars. I haven't heard anything about you for a long time and wondered how you were doing. I see Pamela Faye a lot, I'm sure you remember her and Jerry Long. I played a couple of times at his place over by Olympia. The coolest place I think I've ever played with a huge horse show arena down below. We played for a horse show.
Great to hear you're still around. A friend of mine over in Gig Harbor has a GFI single neck. I played it and it felt and sounded great.

When it comes to lubrication, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”! It won’t break from lack of it!

I think you all know how i feel about GFI !!
I have been dragging mine around on the road for 3 solid years and have never had to do any thing but set it up and play it!
I have been in some bad conditions, from 100 degree weather out side, to sub zero weather left out on the bus over several nites, and my GFI Ultra Keyless has never failed me.. Oh Yea! i have never had to oil it, and it plays like the day it was new!
Without a doubt, the best guitar for my hard road life!
