There's no data on the album. Just wondering who may the steel player be. Pic attached.

Hughey.
Don't know if this song is on that CD, but John knocks it out of the park--in 1956. Just a hellacious vocal by Sandy Brooks.

The following titles are not John, if they are on that CD. They probably are on it, since these songs were recorded at the Sam Phillips studios and then leased to the Gilt-Edge label--before Sam started Sun. Steel on these tracks either Danny Holloway or Jackie Hardaway:
Memphis Bounce
Hot Foot Rag
Save A Little Love For Me
Ozark Boogie
Skunk Hollow Boogie
Time Marches On
Red, White, and Blue
Sixty Days

Twin steel players are John Hughey on the left and Tulsa, Oklahoma's own Rocky Caple. |

Do you all notice who else is in that first album cover. Speck and Slim were brothers. |

Looks like John is playing a Bigsby with 10 pedals! Can't make out the number of necks, tho ... |

Mitch Drumm, You just amaze me how you come up with these pictures from the past. Thanks for sharing. And your wealth of knowledge is superb. J.R. _________________ NOTHING..Sold it all. J.R. Rose |

It's not a Bigsby, I believe he made it himself. At least the one in the last picture ( dark colored guitar )is a Hughey. |

I remembered a kid seeing Slim ,Dusty, and Spec, ( The Rhodes Show) along with John Hughey playing on a flatbed trailer next to the local market in Northeast Arkansas. I was enamored with John's sound and thought someday I'd have one of those things. Dusty at the age of 90 and his daughter Donna were still playing shows in Mt. View and we visited about those early shows. That's where country music comes from not some computer generated song to fit the demographics! _________________ Rittenberry Prestige SD-12,Mullen G2 SD-12 ,Mullen PRP S-12 BMI S-12 V8 octal, BJS Bars, LiveSteelStrings,Steelers Choice Seat. |
