www.juststrings.com

You can save a lot of money by buying the individual strings in bulk (they come in bags of 12).

they also include a small package of drying agent in each bag so you dont have to worry about the strings rusting.

Wade, I buy strings from Billy Cooper's Music, Orange, VA coopersmusic@hotmail.com or telephone 540/854-5940. I keep packs of strings so I can change strings as you mentioned and I also buy individual strings to replace 3rds, 5ths as needed.

Go to your local music dealer and ask him if he will stock strings for you. If you do this
and he won't, mail order them. If you by-pass
your mom and pop stores they will go away and
you'll be buying your strings from Walmart.

b0b, the owner of this Forum, sells Jagwire strings, which I think are the best available.

They are available in nickle wound or stainless steel.

Click on the Strings link at the top of any SGF page, or use this link to open the sales page: http://pedalsteelmusic.com/strings.html

Buying from the Forum helps support this fine service.

I use and endorse Jagwire Strings and accessories.

Keep Steelin' but don't get caught!

http://www.juststrings.com is a good source for all kinds of strings. I buy Emmons SIT strings from them for roughly $5.00 a package. Shipping is reasonable, and they ship partial orders with no additional shipping charge for back-ordered items.

Jagwire strings are highly regarded. Look here on the forum. I've got a couple of sets but haven't got around to trying them yet.

My local steel buddy (Hi Pat!) uses Cobra Coils which he swears by, and gets them from Bobbe Seymour's. I'll try them after the Jagwires.

I agree with Chuck McGill with regards to supporting your local mom & pop music stores, for the obvious,...I own a small music store. And I also agree that the Forum is a "best" choice too,...if ur going to use it,...support it! As far as brands, it is whatever works best for you. And of course sticking with your brand & sizes or choice is important. If your strings are NOT responding the way you like, then change and find one that works well, and stick with it! Nothing wrong with experimenting occassionally to stay up on the brands, competition, etc., but its not adviseable to just put on whatever, whenever. I use Buddy Emmons' SIT strings, but am interested in checking out the Jagwire's because I have heard a lot of good things about them with a lot of endorsements, most recent of which is David Spires, I think. HWP has an endoresement, too I think. Steve

Ditto

also, I don't think you can beat the Jagwire brand. I buy the Tommy White series except I use an 018 instead of an 017.
