So, once again, it's time to reduce the value of another bunch of Stringmaster parts by making them into a playable instrument.

This time, it's not mine - I'm helping a friend put one together but the good news is that he lives very close and will be happy for me to borrow it any time I want to. The necks are actually very light in weight so it will be interesting to hear how it sounds.

They had already been (badly) refinished and partly stripped by the time we got them so he decided to go with a bold colour choice. Enough cream Stringmasters in the world already, we thought.

By the way - the picture is a bit of an optical illusion - they are actually both short scale necks.

The main issue we have on this one is the selecter switch. The control plate we have is actually from a triple 8 and it has the 3 push buttons.

The actual buttons themselves unscrew so we were thinking of just unscrewing the middle one, leaving the entire switch assembly intact and just wiring the two outside buttons up to the pickups.

Can anyone think of a reason why this wouldn't work?

Plan B is to do what I did with my quad and widen a couple of the holes to fit two separate on/off switches.

We actually have all the other parts we need Smile

Unless someone out there has a two way control plate (with or without the switch) that they would like to swap for a 3 way plate complete with button assembly?
