I'm still getting used to the pedal steel and am concerned that playing a lap steel with a wider string spacing (.384 vs. .344) and narrower fret scale (22 1/2" vs. 24 1/4") will throw me off. Your opinion please.

Nope. It only takes getting used to it! So many players play pedals and dobro, too, that it's (string spacing) become almost a "non-issue".

A short time on the strings and your brain will compensate and you'll be playin' it with your eyes closed.
