I am considering purchasing a 12 string Fessenden on the Steel Guitars of North County site. I am a lap steel and dobro player and I like to play some rock and blues so the low end E seems like it would be useful. Any thoughts or input about starting out with this setup would be appreciated. The guitar looks like it was used for Sacred Steel type playing before. Also its purple which I am sure will help me learn better
Thanks in advance for your collective wisdom,
Steve |

You will like the guitar & you couldn't find a better guy to deal with. Plus, Jim can help you learn to play it...
It's a Win, Win, Win situation. _________________ Steel Guitar players are members of a Special Family |

Before you pull the trigger, have a chat with Jim about a Universal tuning. Approached from the E side, it might suit you. |

Mike,
good advice. My 12 string is a Kline Uni, which I play as an extended E tuning. _________________ Dr. Z Surgical Steel amp, amazing!

I'm getting a new Mullen SD12 with an extended E9. I rarely, if ever use my C6 neck. I've pretty much forgotten most of what I knew. Hopefully it will be lighter than my Carter D10 with 9p/9k. I can see great things happening with the lower strings. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Playing for 55 years and still counting. |

Thanks for all the input. Greg that Williams sounded great and that's the low end sound I like so thanks for the great track. Still pondering,

JayDee has mentioned to me that if he were just starting out today, he would probably go Ext E9.
And, you can't go wrong dealing with Jim P... |

I have played both extended E9th and Universal.... In my opinion, universal is the way to go. BTW: I recently changed my extended E9th steel to universal.
