What's your definition of "cheap"? Square neck or round neck?

You can buy a Gretsch G9210 Boxcar for $360 on Musician's Friend.

Jack, I have a black Johnson squareneck for $400.00 shipped. The case (included) is worth $100.00 and the guitar is clean and sounds very good.

The Gretsch Boxcar is a much better instrument for the money in my opinion (and the opinion of many others). Owning an older Rogue doesn't give you a better instrument.

If you seriously want to spend less and don't care how it sounds, the Kzone resonator guitars on eBay go for around $100. I tend to call this a "resonator shaped object" based on the quality and sound.

John is probably right, as regards to the sound, between the two. I have never played a Gretch Dobro, so I don't know. I know I play a Gibson SJ, and my father had a Gretch Country Gentleman, and I like my Gibson much better. That is just me. I know the Morrell is not a top of the line, but it is a very good instrument, for the money.

I have a Gretsch Bobtail, which has the Fishman pickup in it, stock. Also have the Fishman Jerry Douglas Aura pedal to go with it. Plus a bunch of instructional material, if interested.

Depends on the price, but I known about the lesson material. I have a bunch too. I will say, I'm very sure the Gretch is a much better guitar, then maybe the Morrell, but I sure can't tell the difference, other then cost. It's all up to Jack, if he want the Morrell, it's his, if he wants the Gretch, he can touch base with you. I just made him an offer.

I sell all the wood parts kits for $199.95 to build your own dobro with. That is as cheep as it gets for a good dobro.
You can then install the cone and spider and tuners you want. Inlay and paint to your color choice.
Build your own higher end dobro for cheep.
