I have been made aware of a Sho-Bud that was Gene Moore's That is a D9... never heard of a D9 but there's a lot I don't know about pedal steels. It has 6 pedals, no knees. Any information you can give me? I don't want it but the current owner is making it available for sale shortly and it would be cool if a forumite got it. There is, by the way, provenance to prove the ownership.

Probably a "permanent", made in the very early '60s. I've seen a few D9's, so they're not that rare. I believe John Bechtel owned one.

I think it'd be very cool to play one!

I have several D-9s in my collection and played one for several years in the sixties on a professional basis. Hal Rugg had one for a good while and Buddie Emmons played one with Ernest Tubb for a while.
Not very rare, all were Permanent setup guitars. Every one I ever heard (many) sounded fine!
I'd be interested in another one if this person wishes to sell it.

One of the D-9 Bud's that Bobbe got came from me-I bought it from a guy on the east coast-It was a fingertip model made with cocobolo wood-It had 5P+1K when I got it-We made it 6+2 with spare extra orig parts-It was much more with the 6+2 Do you remember it Bobbe?

The permanent D9 one on the unofficial Sho Bud website used to be mine. A great guitar, beautiful tone, a simple idiot-proof mechanism ( probably why it worked so well for me!! ).
