I want to thank the following guys for their help with parts & input on the ROSE project. Billy M (Ebay), Jeff Surratt, Frank Raines, Fred Jack,C J Mandes, Marty Broussard, Michael Yal, Larry Petree, Jim Palenscar, Jim Flynn and Stewart-McDonald sales. Yes....this Forum is a true blessing for us all!!! Please forgive me if I left anyone out.
Special thanks to Gene Haugh who originally built this guitar for Sho~Bud and gave me the "treasure" of knowing its history and how it "never was"! (Finished). And the fabulous photo of this guitar at Scotty's Show in the early 80's. Also thanks to Kevin Mincke from Farmington MN, for help, advice and support. And Lovin' those Buds!
My wife, Barbara Jean for sharing me with Sho~Buds for 56 years.
It was worth all the effort and costs!!! ENJOY!!!

WOW...outstanding job there, Neil!! Thanks so much for sharing the pics and updates, along the way. With so many turning D10's to Sd10's, this really is, quite refreshing! Beautiful guitar!! _________________ “TONESNOB†|

Awesome job of restoring Neil. You did a great job. A Beautiful Guitar. My first year at Scotty's was this one. I remember this display very well. I think it was 1984? I had just got me a Black Sho-Bud in late 1982 and I remember thinking I wish I had seen a white one. I had never seen a White Guitar before. I met Sara and remember it was her second time at the convention and she sang a Pasty Cline song for the first time of singing on stage. She did a great job then as she does now. I also met Gene but he did not impress me like Sara did,ha-ha. It is so SAD that chapter of Steel Guitar is gone. I am very thankful I have the memories I do. It will never be again. J.R. I forgot to post a couple of photos of the original starting point (shell) as it was received from Ebay purchase. Mid April this year. Starting point cost $395.
The neck that came with was originally in the C6 position.
The Rose Decal/Sho~Bud & Super Pro II Decals were there and the paint was in very good condition where it showed. I did repaint the old and new neck and had a local auto artist shop print new neck decals. _________________ Sho-Bud Steel Guitars, 3 Super Pro's, 1 Super Pro II (Rose) & 1 Finger Tip

That Sho-Bud neon sign in the background would make a very unique decorative item. |

Thanks to all for the wonderful words about the "Rose"! Mickey, yes you nailed it.....this was a "True Labor of Love"......the unwavering Love of the Shot Jackson and Buddy Emmons creation....called Sho~Bud!!! My ultimate dream is for the Sho~Bud name to be bought and for them to be built again as one of the front runners in the business. Doubt if that will happen in my lifetime, unless....I win the Lottery!!
The Best to All here on the Forum!!!!!

Neil,
Did you manufacture the cool, slotted endplates on the guitar? Very unusual and eye-catching. Stevet |

Steve, The slotted end plates were a design on the Super Pro II model of Sho~Bud. Very few were manufactured. I have more of this story and on this guitar in an earlier thread in this topic. _________________ Sho-Bud Steel Guitars, 3 Super Pro's, 1 Super Pro II (Rose) & 1 Finger Tip

I was told by Gene Haugh that it was Sarah Jory. I emailed the picture to Sarah Jory.....she said she remembered it well. So....I am thinking it is her? _________________ Sho-Bud Steel Guitars, 3 Super Pro's, 1 Super Pro II (Rose) & 1 Finger Tip

Neil;
I'm sorry if I misled you when I sent the picture to you but that was the only good one I have of the "Rose". That is not me in the picture it is a fellow named Kenny Madden from Chanute Kansas. He worked for Kustom and was a bass player for Johnny Russell for a while. We were in the process of moving Kustom Gretsch to DeQueen Arkansas and he came along to help. The lady I don't know but it is not Sarah!
Have a blessed day.

Gene....Thank you so much for setting me straight with this picture...You said Sarah Jory stood in front of it and looked at it for over 30 minutes and wanted it....so I just figured that was you and her in the picture. At this age I should know better than to assume....right! Ha! (I even sent her the picture and she didn't say it wasn't her, just that she remembered the day very well!)
Well....we DO KNOW the creme Super Pro II in the picture IS THE "ROSE" I have brought back to life!!!
I will be adding these posts to the book and photos I have of her! She is a one of a kind SWEET ROSE BUD...that's for sure!!!
Thanks again for all the input Gene!!!! _________________ Sho-Bud Steel Guitars, 3 Super Pro's, 1 Super Pro II (Rose) & 1 Finger Tip
