Robert, i would suggest you let new lacquer "cure" for at least 60 days before applying any type polish or wax. It's important that complete drying occur before removing the lacquer finish from "air cure". Bubbles and onion like peeling are usually caused by improper surface treatment. After that I use Johnson's Pride (spray) type polish on my stuff. Matter of fact I even spray the leading edges of the wings, horizontal snd vertical stabilizers of my aircraft with Pledge. It makes for an easy "wipedown" to remove bugs picked up in flight. Just a thought.

Gibson makes a "Pump Polish" for guitars, banjos and mandolins. To quote the bottle, it "combines a unique combination of cleaners and emulsifiers to deep clean. It then adds a trace amount of lacquer to help replenish and seal your instrument's finish." This stuff works wonders on old dull lacquer finishes. You can order it from Elderly Music. |

I am convinced, after 45 years of polishing guitars, that the best shine comes from using Meguiar's Show Car Glaze. It's amazing! Whenever I work on someone's guitar, I finish up with this product. It never fails to surprise the owners. |
