PRICE DROP: Beard Road-O-Phonic dobro resonator $900+ship
...Price new was $1,800!

The Beard Road-O-Phonicâ„¢ guitar is a fully playable, compact acoustic/electric instrument for the musician who wants a lot of punch and versatility in a small package.

The Road-o-Phonic resonator has stereo output - a Lace Dobro pickup on the neck, and a Fishman Piezo - so you get the best of all worlds. Or you can just plug in a regular mono cord, forget the outboard gear, and it will work fine...and you won't get feedback, even sitting right in front of an amp!

I used an input switch to go back and forth between dobro and pedal steel during a gig…works great. But I'm going all-acoustic...so the electric stuff has to go...

Plenty of acoustic volume to practice or jam with a guitar player…

Roadie, Hard shell Case, folding stage stand.

Description at:
http://www.beardguitars.com/road-o-phonic/?rq=road-o-phonic

Specs at:
http://www.beardguitars.com/road-o-phonicspecs/

Excellent condition, and works perfectly.

Is that Fishman piezo the Nashville split resonator for which the Aura Jerry Douglas pedal was designed? Or another?
Thanks, John

The Roadie is a totally unique instrument - the tonal adjustments are made by balancing the piezo and magnetic pickup contributions, which are very complementary, and adjusting their individual characteristics.

Each of the pickups' specific contours can be adjusted in the MixPro, also - there are some input gain and tonal range adjustments inside the cover, you make those once for the specific instrument, and then use the outside controls to adjust levels/tone/pickup balance as needed.

The Fishman piezo is not the Nashville, but I personally doubt that the Aura images would be relevant to this instrument anyway - it is a semi-hollow body, slightly shorter scale, with a smaller cone (a mando cone, I believe) and has its own unique resonator sound flavor...it was all designed to work with just what is already in it. The acoustic tone is pretty treble heavy (small sound chamber), but the electric tone is well balanced.

I just did an experiment - the Fishman Nashville/Aura thing is partially about microphone images, but the immediate benefit is that the Aura removes the "quacky" sound that any piezo gives.

With the Roadie, blending in a bit of the other pickup both improves the tonal balance and removes the piezo quack sound completely, at least to my ears. So, a different approach, but same result as with the Nashville/Aura.

Price drop $50...

This Roadie is just a little more expensive than the ones that have sold here, because it includes the Baggs Mixpro - but it is only about $50 for many hundreds of dollars of additional function...and I cover shipping...

You can plug it straight into an amp with no outboard electronics, but with the Mixpro combining the stereo outputs, the quality of the dobro tone you get is greatly enhanced...

Plus you get extra strings, great folding stand, a truly high-quality stereo cord, etc.
