I'm a novice lap steel player. Can any of you experienced players who know this album (or even Mr.Emmons himself) tell me if there are any pedals being used on this album? Or is Buddy playing without pedals here, in keeping with the era of the songs? Great album - all Bob Wills' best numbers, great playing from everyone, wonderful tone from Buddy - and the gentleman can sing too! Thanks.

Oh yes. Mr Emmons does use the pedals and very well I might add. That is a favorite
record of mine. It just sounds like all the
players are having a great time.

Oh! That's it then! No chance of me ever copying Buddy's solos on my little lap steel. (As if there ever was!).

Go for it. I still try to play Don Helms licks
using pedals and get frustrated.

I love to hear him talk, (as in the E9th Chord Vocabulary tape), but I ain't never (yet) heard him sing...

This is a good western-swing CD. Buddy sings (pretty well, as a matter of fact) and plays pedal-style C6th. The album features Buddy's singing far more than it does his playing, but what playing is there is mighty fine. A must for Emmons' afficianados.

I wore out my cassette long ago. In fact, it was one of the things that got me really interested in steel guitars. Is this recording still available?
