I recently acquired Bobbe's unfinished D10. I guess Bobbe ordered it without pedals or nuts and he was going to add his own. I had Todd make up some nuts and am playing it as a non pedal console at the moment, but will eventually add five or six pedals. Anyway, it's a killer guitar, and while I know people had mixed feelings about the man, I'm very proud to have and play this steel guitar hall of famer's guitar!

Great guitar!
Bobbe was "THE" steel guitarist pal. He will be missed
I just don't know what I'd do with that many strings and no pedals? |

Beautiful. I had a D-8 console made at the same time with metal necks--I believe it was number 003. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

My D8 Clinesmith console was delivered in March of last year. The serial number is the actual date of completion. Is there more than one system for *serializing these guitars?

Thanks fellas. It is indeed a beautiful guitar. Serial number 3112 . So march 1st 2012. Todd says Bobbe ordered it right before he got sick and wasn't able to finish it before he passed. RIP.
I've got c6 on the back and E13 on the front. 10 strings really opened up the E13 tuning for me. I'm really enjoying playing it standing up and am considering doing a stand up pedal situation. Not sure...
Thinking I'll order a "pick guard" from TK Smith to cover the name if and when needed ala Jeremy Wakefield's Bigsby... _________________ Mostly Pre-1970 guitars. |

Mark - the mixed feelings I mentioned were about Mr Seymour. Some people have expressed reservations about his... Ethics in business. Whatever the case may be, he was a great player. I only spoke to him once and he was very nice and helpful. _________________ Mostly Pre-1970 guitars. |

I never spoke to him or met him, But I got loads of great information and playing tips on his youtube videos and the news letter he did back then. (It's still on line)
Sorry if some people had a less than good experience with him, but I always judge people with my own meeting and dealings if at all. I try my best to avoid gossip.
Anyway he is now gone and I was taught it's not good to bad rap the dead. RIP.
Can't help but wish I had the cash to be a collector, but I don't.
I'm happy to see these fine examples of our instrument bought by people who can afford them and preserve them for the future.
I'll admit to being a little green around the edges, but really happy with what the Lord has granted to me... A fine family and a few nice instruments.
While I can't own a Bigsby I did put up a deposit on a couple of Todd Clinesmith's fine reproductions. Something to really look forward to.

I'm nearly finished - just waiting on a few parts... figuring out the cable system from scratch has been a little tricky but is coming together. you might notice I had to use non slotted head screws - they will be replaced! Guitar sounds so good. It doesn't look to shabby either...

Hi Abe,
Shabat sholom, two hours until sunset here, but in Toronto I think it's there now.
WoW, Nice work on both.
The Clinesmith looks great and I just ordered a couple of items from Todd.
One will be a D-8 with aluminum necks, raised frets and markers.
It will be well worth the wait.
Could you post a few photos showing the changer from various points of view.
I may want to add pedals to the D-8 I ordered at a later date.
Bet you'll have a fun time playing them for a long time to come.
Best wishes,
Andy _________________ Inlaid Star Guitar 2006 by Mark Giles. SD-10 4+5 in E9th; http://luthiersupply.com/instrument-gallery.html

I did tell you if you used phillips head screws, you would go to Bigsby hell. Change them soon and your sentence will be reduced to Bigsbatory! |
Uh oh... my '49 Bigsby was modded by PA in 1954, and then by Shot Jackson in the '60s.

Todd - even worse, I had to use Robertson, square drive screws - all I could find here in Canada. I'll be replacing them with slot heads as soon as I can get a bunch. Can't wait to see what you do with the Speedy guitar. How long do you reckon till it's gleaming again? _________________ Mostly Pre-1970 guitars. |

Sorry this is a little off-topic, but this photo gives me a headache. I've never seen a reverse Bigsby, nor heard of one.
