Attention Zum pickers. I am thinking about changing to a George L 10-1 pickup. Is the Zum considered a wide mount? I have a pickup located if so.
Thanks

James....
I have a 1997 Zum with George L's 10-1 pickups that were installed by Bruce Z when the guitar was built. So they should fit.

Hi! Jim:
They are a wide mount. You should try the George L Eon. It sounds full like a 10-1 but has more highs and better mids. Full but cleaner. It is wound to 17.5K like an E-66, but has iron blades instead of stainless steel. Check out the sound files at the Carter site. They also describe it. |

Thanks Morton, I have always thought my Zum was little too bright anyway. I would like a little more lows and mids. Jr Knight suggested the 10-1, however, I will check out the Carter Site.
Thanks

Thanks Billy, I have a burgandy Zum previously owned by Rev. Wayne Smith. It has the stock Zum pickup. Sounds great but I need to loose the hum.

I have owned at least 8 Zum's and Have tried almost every pickup made. I seem to always go back to the stock single coil. What one player thinks sounds good, another player may not. I find the 10-1 a little muddy for my liking, but I do like the full sound. It may sound different on another guitar. The Eon is fairly new but has the 10-1 sound with a full but cleaner bottom, better mids and a sweet top end for a humbucker. I thank Carter for posting the sound files at their site. This helps players compare which pickup they prefer. |
