I love my new GFI SM10, but it had a bit of a squeak on the A & B Pedals. I got underneath and isolated the squeak and found that suspending a couple of rods a bit silenced the squeak, so I put a couple of small cable ties for the rods to ride in...anyone see any problem with this? Does not affect the tuning and doesn't cause any binding.

I guess this is why some manufacturers put those foam blocks in the pull rods. Are those rods rubbing on something? I may try to bend them a bit if it were mine, but I see no harm in what you did.

Also, being a new guitar, you may have to play it a bit until all of the machining "wears in", if that makes sense...

No, not rubbing, the squeak was coming from the rod rubbing on the changer finger that it pulls just before it engages. I've had several pedal steels, and just about all of them had squeaks to chase down. I've never really understood why there wasn't more usage of some type of guides to avoid the noise.
