I may have just made a really dumb move, but I bought the "New" Red GFI ULTRA off eBay for $1750. Gene Fields lives (and builds guitars) about 6 blocks from where I live so I visited him (nice guy!) to try the axe for myself. It was nice!! very smooth. I wanted to order a new keyless SD10 but this one showed up on eBay for about 1/2 the price. $1750 ... SIGHT UNSEEN. So.. how badly did I mess up here?? Any comments??

I see no reason to think you messed up at all. I've got one & I love it. (Got it the same place you did!)I expect you'll be very happy with it. Wanta trade your red one for my pretty pale blue one?

Thanks guys! I know I've see a TON of GFI's being played professionally so I had to at least try it. Once I tried Gene's, I was hooked. Buying it off of eBay was a bit intimidating, though .. not sure I'll do that again. Don't like the idea of sending almost $2K thru the mail to a perfect stranger ... what's wrong with THAT picture?? Anyhoo... I'm excited about it but not sure WHERE to put the CW (no eBay, thx)!

Does the GFI have any little 'wierd' things going on that I might need to know about??

Thanks again for your responses!

Bob

Bob, if you're buying from an established ebay member, who's been there for quite a while, who has lots of good positive feedback & little or no negatives, & the person's feedback record shows a reasonable number of high-dollar transactions, both buying & selling, I don't see any cause at all for concern. The worst thing, probably, is that it can become rather addictive!

Thanks for the tip, Richard. I know that this past month I've been looking for a single 10 to buy. I'm tired of having a $1000 arm rest (C6th neck)! The list on eBay was impressive but I've been reluctant to buy any high ticket stuff there. I was encouraged when I bought a "new" nashville 1000 for $600. It was just as promised, so I guess with your suggested cautions, eBay is oKay ...

Hi Bob,I also bought the candy red GFI ultra, keyless, SD 10 off ebay about a month ago and the fellow I bought it from was from Nashville and the guitar and case were show room condition, also the people at GFI are nice to deal with.I had to change a couple knee levers around but the guitar and transaction was smooth as silk.

Bob, if I could have afforded it, I'd have been after that guitar myself. You got yourself a real good deal.

I have a D10 keyless 8+8 and I love to death. I swear I've gotten 500% better since I've had it. It took a while to adjust me settings as it is different than my Fender, ZB or MCI, but now that it is dialed in, I wouldn't trade it sound wise or for playability for anything.

It's the fastest thing to change strings on I've ever seen and it seldom breaks them. The 3 and 5 on the E9th about every 3 weeks is the only ones I've broken and I've really been giving it a hard workout.

Thanks Guys, I appreciate the input! Yea, Webb.. I was really interested in the keyless, too, but NEW they are around $2900 (list) for the single neck with a pad. When I found this for about 1/2 that, I HAD to jump on it! I can hardly wait to get my hands on it!
