A friend of mine bought an Oahu lap steel on eBay this week, it has the string thru pickup. I was trying to adjust the 4th string pole piece because there was nearly no sound at all coming thru and I broke the pole piece with the screwdriver. So I took the plate and pickup off the guitar to try to adjust the pole piece from the under side and It is very stuck and slightly corroded. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

You might try some penetrating oil on the thread area & let it sit over night before trying again.
Liquid Wrench etc.... |

Let it soak,
Then if you have no purchase for a screwdriver or pliers you may have to consider a small drill into the slug to enable tapping in an allen key.
But leave it soaking longer than you would normally.

As a last resort, if it won't budge after a long soak, try heating the screw with a 40 watt or less soldering iron (clean tip first). Do not over heat but check it regularly to see if it will budge. _________________ Tony
