Hi all!
I am a beginner to pedal steel and I am in the market for a guitar. I have been looking at the the GFI S-10 SM, and the ZumSteel Stage One. I have been leaning towards the Zum, but it sounds like I would be waiting till the beginning of next year for a new one. I don't mind waiting for the right deal, but I thought it might be wise to reach out here.
I am open to suggestions, advice, etc. I would like a 10 string E9, 3 pedal 4 lever steel at a minimum - and I don't mind paying a little more for a used pro model from a reputable source (and this really feels like a reputable community!) if that is the best deal.
I am hoping to keep it in the $1500 - $2000 range (but might move for the right deal). Thanks for your time!! See you on the boards. |

Hi Robert,
Welcome to the instrument. One option that you should consider is a GFI Expo S10.
$2100 brand new & a keeper. 3&4, light and a nice little ax!
Best of luck!

Robert,
I was you about a year and a half ago... I started with the GFI SM, loved it, light weight, plays easy, stays in tune, no cabinet drop, easy to change strings. Their customer service is excellent. This will get you going, till the bug really bites you and you'll be selling your children to step up to a new pro model... welcome to the blessed addiction... ; ) _________________ Warning: I have a Telecaster, and I ain't afraid to use it! |

I would like to thank all of you who have replied to help me out here!! I am happy to say I am now the proud owner of a Zum Stage One purchased from Alex at Charley's Guitar Shop in Arlington, TX. If all goes well I will be picking it up this weekend. Thanks again for all the suggestions! |
