I purchased a guitar recently that has the same change that Paul Franklin has on his c6th 5th pedal. It does the following:
7th string raise C to D
8th string raise A to C
9th string raise F to A
I'm just looking for some ideas on what that could be used for??
thank you

Looks like it might be designed to get easy access to pentatonic scales such as might be used in jazz, "fusion" etc. |

I asked Paul that question and got two things in response.
1. It gives am & C major pentatonic scales. As a bonus - if used w/ pedal 5 (the D change pedal) that lowers G to F# you get the equivalent to playing the 9 - 8 - 7- 6 strings on E9 - 4 consecutive whole steps. SO all those fast E9 licks are right there for you!
2. Paul uses the C & D notes with upper notes to get quartal sounding chords & scales. I haven't spent enough time on that yet.....
Sometimes I don't engage the F to A raise in order to reduce heavy action and some cabinet drop. Raising the big ole' string 2 whole steps is a big move!
I absolutely LOVE that pedal & use it a LOT.

Actually I have that change on my pedal 4. 5 thru are the normal C6 changes. And P9 is my "experiment" pedal.
IF you combine P4 & P5 (the D chord change) you get the same 4 consecutive whole steps that you get on E9 (D - E _ F# G#).
