OH Eddie; you lived a Full, Rich, Loving life. Last time I saw you and talked to you; was at the Steel Guitar Convention and I played a song for you that day on a Fulawka you built for me; and Now I play it again for you as you now look down from Heaven.
This is for you Eddie and now you and your Wife can listen together> RIP.

Thank you for building me the most beautiful Steel guitar EVER...in Looks and Beauty.
Here's the Twin Fulawka's for me and my partner.

And here is mine>

Thank you Ed so much for all you did for me. You made so many dreams come true for so many people, while you were here; and now we all get to have memorable times about you and your passions for everything you did.
Love you and I will miss you.

Rest in Peace, Eddie.

Very fitting tribute Ricky...the color and finish on that Blue Darlin' has been my all time favorite of any brand of steel over the years - that's a real work of art and it sounds fantastic.

Ed built me a guitar in 1982. There was no shipping charges on the guitar as Ed delivered it himself. I am about 1,000 miles from where Ed's home is. The deal on the guitar was that it was guaranteed as long as Ed lived and if I ever wanted to sell it, he would buy it back. Not many folks like that around anymore. RIP Ed

So sad to read this. I have always heard only the best about the instruments Ed made, and only the best about how he treated his customers. I am glad to read he passed peacefully.

Eddie was a very special person and one of a kind. Every Steel guitar had his special touch. I did a video of Life's Railway To heaven and I would like to dedicate it to my dear Friend Eddie Fulawka. [/img]

Eddie was a familiar part of the ISGC for many, many years. Every year he would bring Scotty a bottle of Bloody Marys made with Clamato. Scotty looked forward to it every year. RIP Eddie.

Eddy was one of a kind. If you told him it couldn't be done, he'd show you that it could be done.
I met Eddie in 1968 & spend many years assisting him in building pedal steels giving suggestions, & helping to sell them.
I owned 3 models over the years, a D-10 (now SD-10), D-1012 & S-12.
I also was the beneficiary of many of his culinary delights, etc.

RIP Eddie
Thanks!

Eddie was a huge person in the steel guitar scene in Canada and the world. He graciously invited me to spend a weekend with him where he propelled me into the wonderful world of steel guitar building. Now, some 20 guitars later, I still think back to this weekend where I learned so much from the Master himself.

Rest in Peace my friend and mentor!

There's some interesting video on Ed's sight about his manufacturing & history. A loss to the steel guitar community. Beautiful work Ed.

I was dreading the day when I would open this section of the Forum and find Eddie's name. His guitars were and are works of art.....both aesthetic and mechanical. I feel blessed to have worked with Eddie on specifying and then taking possession of my treasured D-10 back in 2008. I love the man as I love the guitar. The two are inseparable in my mind. He started building steels when Buddy Emmons and Shot Jackson introduced the Sho-Bud and has continued until his death. He has to be one of, if not the, longest tenured builder in the business.....and one of the most admired. Eddie, you will be dearly missed by your legion of loyal customers and friends. Well done thy good and faithful servant!

So sorry to hear of Ed's passing. I also regret that I never had a chance to meet him. Certainly for those of us who play pedal steel the man was a national treasure, and I hope to someday own one of his guitars.

Eddie was a Hoot to be around, what little time I knew him, consisting of about 4 years at the St Louis Show.

Eddie will be missed by many many steel players, and just plain folks everywhere he traveled.
Rest In Peace Eddie Fulawka

Oh, no, I'm saddened to read this news. Back in March, I inquired about him here on the Forum and someone told me he had spoken with him recently and he was doing okay, despite some health issues. I'm so sorry to read it has come to this. He was a bright light in the steel community. RIP, Eddie. You done good.

RIP, Eddie. I always had good conversations with him at the ISGC in St Louis. Even got to pick on one of his jams.

I'll remember him every time I see the How its Made segment on Pedal Steel Guitars.
