Which Telonics pickups compare in tone and response to any of the Bill Lawrence pickups? Or do they? _________________ 1976 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics 427 pickup, 1975 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics X-12 pickup, Revelation preamp, Carbon Copy Delay and Hall Of Fame Reverb, Crown XLS 1002, 2- 15" Eminence Wheelhouse speakers, ShoBud Pedal, Effects Pedals. 1949 Epiphone D-8. |

I've replaced a Lawrence LXR-16 with a Telonics 206,very close in sound to each other! _________________ Steeltronics Z-pickup,Desert Rose S-10 4+5,Desert Rose Keyless S-10 3+5... Gerard the 206 was actually designed more for C6th so thats probably why.
The 409 is probably the best Telonics pickup so far - and with the adjustable volume and tone poles for each string I guess you could dial in any tone you want. _________________ 14'Zumsteel Hybrid D10 9+9

I respectfully disagree. I have 206's on one of my Zums and 409's on the other. They're both outstanding pickups with but slightly different sounds. I find I sometimes prefer the 206 - it depends a bit on amplification and the room. There's a silky quality to the 206 that is very hard to resist. It's all subjective. |

i agree with matt. i've had the 206 in my sho bud for a couple of years and just recently replaced it with the 409. the 206 had a more vintage tone to my ears. warm but not muddy. the 409 is definitely more modern sounding. i wish pickups were a quicker switch and i could rotate both telonics in and out along with my truetone! |
