I wonder how many parts are used in the various brands and configurations. Anyone have any numbers?

gonna be a whole lotta stuff, if you're counting every little screw, nut, bolt, washer, etc.

I do know that a Sierra changer (Session, Olympic, etc. , not the artist). Has somewhere around 35 parts per string and that's not counting the main pivots, changer mounting bits...right there ya got 350 + parts for a 10 string. Yowza!!

First you'll have to define what you count as a part. Do you count every screw? is a changer finger 1 part or is each scissor counted separately? etc.

Seems a bit high. What brand is that? I assume a D-10.

Bob, it takes about 50 parts (plus or minus 4) on an Emmons push pull to activate 1 pedal and pull two strings. That's counting everything that moves when a pedal is pushed. Not counting any body or pedal rack parts, just parts that move. Very interesting, wouldn't have thought there was that many. I counted every screw and all but did from memory is why the plus or minus.

Counting every single element (like washers, pickup magnets, all the parts that make up the output jack, gears in the tuning machines etc.), I would guesstimate somewhere around 650-800 parts for an all-pull SD10 4x5, adding 3รขโ‚ฌโ€œ400 if it has ball/roller bearings for the cross shafts and the changer fingers.

There are about as many parts as licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop:
