Wonderful playing again on Bob Dylan's Triplicate - I don't think he gets enough credit for his contribution to the recent Dylan work he's done.

I agree wholeheartedly. Donnie is taking the place of the string section on many of these big band arrangements.
At a time when the 'classic' pedal steel sound is being ably demonstrated by Mike Johnson and Tommy White on the new Alison Krauss CD, there's much to admire in the innovative approach Donnie brings to these arrangements. The pedal steel continues to develop and show its versatility when in good hands. _________________ Ben-Rom #017 'Lorelei', Guild D25, Epiphone 'Joe Pass', Roland 40XL, Hilton VP

Donnie Herron is a big factor in why I started playing the steel!
He is very tasteful, great chord choices, beautiful touch, and really gorgeous playing! Heard this from other "young guns" as well! Check the last few Dylan records out... Worth it for the band alone! |
