I just got two new 710 pickups in the mail. I noticed one row of the pole pieces is slightly higher than the other. Not by much- it isn't noticeable unless I drag my finger across them. Both pickups are nearly identical in this respect, with the same poles raised.
Does it matter which way the pickup is oriented? |

It shouldn't matter, but I have found some pickups (including an L712) where the gauss readings are a little lower towards one end of the pickup versus the other, which could affect the string balance slightly. But that can be compensated for with string height. _________________ Michael Brebes

I'm definitely not the expert here, but the only thing that I can think of is that routing the wire/cable may be easier one way.
That will be obvious when you go to install it.
Other than that I don't have an answer. |

This is the second time I heard that the new BL710 pickups have pole pieces at a different height. I think that you should ask the company which way it is supposed to be mounted. _________________ ----------------------------------

If the difference in the two heights is less than 1/16", I really don't think it will make any difference. |

I have old (true Bill Lawrence made) 710's. No difference on orientation. I have the E9th one way and the C6th the opposite way because of where the holes are drilled in the body for the pickup wires. It had Lawrence 705's originally and the same way with those. |
