I am in the process of upgrading ( tweaking here and there) my 83 D10 Emmons Push Pull, which has Sperzel factory tuners.
These are the same tuners used on many if not all of the 80's built Sho Buds. My 83 Pro I had the same tuners with the large button tops.
What I wanted to do was replace all of the button tops with NEW Chrome tops .
Speaking with Sperzel they do not have new tuner body's but do have several button tops,the washers,the screws and the aluminum cone spacers.
I purchased 20 new narrow button tops, (.69 inch wide) the short aluminum spacers,(.22) a few new screws and Delrin washers. It didn't break the bank!
The folks at Sperzel were excellent .

| My Franklin came with Sperzel's and the wide button tops. I bought a couple new ones to replace some that were bad, directly from Sperzel. I forgot to specify the wide buttons and they came with the narrower ones. I tried them but didn't like them and replaced the narrow ones with wide buttons from the old tuners. Seems easier to tune. |

| I was really (pleasantly) surprised with them. I was expecting monolithic corporate obtuseness (obtusity?) but one "Please hold" later, I was talking to the guy who mixes up the parts and tries to get you exactly what you need for each string. And one more beep later, talking to the guy who MAKES them. Long shaft, short shaft, big hole/little hole etc. - Try to get a mini Grover factory drilled for a .076"! A number of structural parts are aluminum, but all the important bits are proper hard steel. |
