Thinking about all the prices and the quality of the parts that are for sale today in the steel guitar business I came to the conclusion that it would be a better idea to make all the parts myself.(So when they turn out wrong I could only blame myself and not anybody else.)
These parts are.......end-plates,legs,pick-up brackets, keyheads, necks, pedals and pedalbars.
All the parts that are needed to start before one has to install and build the underside.

The costs to get those parts to this side of the Ocean cost me to much money with all those taxes and shippingcosts.

I have found a foundry that can pour me all the casts that I need. Now I can hear you say.....I don’t want any cast parts.
I always had the same thought. But after using them on a steel once and listening not only to the sound of the steel but also to the sound of my wallet.....I came to the conclusion to use casts all the time.

Now are my questions:
1:Are there many one man builders that use casts?
2:Are they willing to use casts?
3:Are there people that would like to build a steel and think that the parts they need are to expensive so they won’t start in the first place.

It’s my intention to provide people with the parts I mentioned above.
Would there be a market for this?

Just an example:
1set of legs cost aprox $160+shipping.
I calculated that a set of my legs does not cost you more then $130.Maybe even less.

This is just a question for all of you guys.
The parts above are the ones that I will start with in the first place. After that and all goes well I will continue with other parts like bellcranks, crossbars, etc, etc.

Let me know what you guys and galls are thinking.

That's a commendable initiative, Ron. Shipping across the Atlantic Ocean is outrageously expensive, so a European-based parts source would be a good idea, at least in theory. Then there is always the question of whether the parts on offer will suit the prospective builder's tastes.

My belief is that it would be best to concentrate on the heavier stuff (legs, pedal bars etc.) and forget about small items like bellcranks, where shipping is not much of an issue. Maybe bodies could do well; nice wood is always hard to find.

Whichever way you look at it, I don't think there's much net revenue to be found in such a small market.

Sorry guys.I said $130 for a set of legs but I have it the wrong way.
That must have been $115 and you pay the shipping.

Per.

Don't think that I make only a few molds of the stuff.
Example:The molds for the end-plates come in different shapes and sizes.I could put a picture up of one of the molds but I think it's better to put a picture up when the first test of one of the plates is done.
Keyheads is the same thing. It will not be one specific shape....there will be more sorts of that too.
Maybe introduce some of the older models if those are not patent protected.
