SOLD. As you can see from the pictures the guitar is beautiful, reflective of Collings' incredible build quality. This is the carved version of the I-35 in a nitrocellulose Ice Tea Burst. The top is carved maple, the back, sides and neck mahogany. Condition is conservatively very good -- there is some normal pick wear that is visible if you turn the guitar in a certain light; in addition the volume knob (neck pickup) needs minor tightening (moves slightly). Comes with a Collings-badged Ameritage case. Guitar is currently strung with Thomastik 13 flats and if that's your preference I can include a new set in the case with shipping. These guitars come generally with either Lollars or, in this case, the fantastic Throback SLE 101 humbuckers (check out throback.com) for a warm clear vintage tone. Awesome guitar.
Price is $4,200 (now $3,975) (new price $3,500, firm), plus shipping. Pay-pal please add 3% or I'm happy to take a personal check from well established SGF members. In the middle of down-sizing, so really can't entertain trades at this point.

That is one gorgeous instrument. Last couple times I saw Bill Frisell play that was his guitar, and I think that tea 'burst is even nicer. Now, if THAT ain't an endorsement I don't know what is!

Thanks, Kevin. I didn't realize that. It is a fantastic guitar and I'd be lying if I didn't say I've had some pre-seller's remorse already. But it needs to go to a good home. |
