Working in my machine shop a month ago, I damaged my picking thumb. It was so swollen that when I wrapped it with a bandaid, the ends didn`t meet. Later, the first few gigs, I had to use a large plastic pick. As my thumb is getting closer to normal size and the thumb nail is in the process of coming off, I solved the loose pick problem by using a "Tough Strips" bandaid. I cut out the middle, and taped the rounded pick side with one third, (sticky tape part only). Then I taped the flat pick side, back from the pick tip that contacts the strings. My musician friends laughed at me but it allows me to play without knocking the pick off my healing thumb.

Clear or unclear fingernail polish will also keep the picks on.

Before my thumb injury I always licked my fingers so they wouldn`t slip off. Yesterday I used shrink wrap on my picks including my healing thumb. Thank you Mike Perlowin for the suggestion. It works fine.

So you put shrink wrap over your thumb and fingers, make a couple passes with a Bernzomatic torch, and it shrinks right down to fit. Have I got it right? Mr. Green

Hi Don, I`ll try to be more explicit so the message can`t be misconstrued. I should have said, Using a heat gun I applied shrink wrap to all my picks, including the one that goes on my healing thumb. LOL, Manny
