what's the story on these guitars? ..I'm just a novice player but understand some theory and composition ..the circle of 5ths and the number system ..I played piano as a kid and played a trumpet in the high school band ..will they make me a new one and how long will it take? ..
Thanks for the feedback ..have a 2011 Sho Pro Lloyd Green ..3 pedals and 5 knees ..wonder what it's worth ..a natural finish ..is $2500 reasonable? .. |

I understand that they're in production but hard to get ahold of.
A friend of mine has one, they're great, but so is what you have.
I'd say that 2500 might be low for a Show Pro.
Unless you're wanting a D-10, I don't think the Rains would be a large step up. Some would say it's a step down, some a step up. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects |

As I recall from an older thread the owner of Rains these days, Curtis Hogue of Texas, can only build part time as a supplement to his regular job. _________________ Mark

The first question I'd have to ask is why you're thinking about getting a new guitar when the one you have is (relatively) close to new? Will this be a 2nd guitar, or are you just unhappy with what you have? |

Get the upgrades on the Rains, if that's what you want. Nice improvement on an already nice guitar. |

I spoke with Curtis Saturday at the show in Dallas. He's still building new Rains guitars and doing repair and other work on existing guitars in addition to running a ranch and playing in a band. Great guy, always good to talk to him. |

Was watching PBS this weekend and as usual, when they are attempting to raise funds they bring out the music themed shows from years past. Viewed one taped in Dublin, Ireland (artists name escapes me)and the steel player in the group was playing a Rains, great tone. |

David, That might have been David Hartley from the UK? He promoted the Rains back when. His early day you tubes shows him playing one. Super Picker. And I also visited with Curtis this weekend in Dallas. A very nice gentleman. I just got a 2008 Rains and I love it. It is a KEEPER. Sold my Emmons if that tells you anything. I own a very unique Rains.
It is the gospel model and the cabinet is via Mark Giles. I was built for a Canadian steeler and I couldn't believe it when he put it up for sale. It has mother of pearl trim on the front and even the fret markers are mother of pearl doves.

Hey Ronald, I think I gave you this info on another post but here it is again. Rains Guitar, Curtis Hogue, hogue3@ntin.net, 940-902-9751. Curtis has a day job so best to contact him after five. Visited with him at the Dallas Show this past weekend and yes he still builds Rains Guitars. Just takes a little longer. He is a Craftsman and a Gentleman. J.R.
