I am beginning with building me a new steel in a few weeks that comes with a extended E9th on the front neck with 5x5 and a C6 on the back neck with5x2.Is there someone that have seen such a steel before and maybe have pictures of a steel like this?
I am very interested in pictures. If you have them and would like to share them with me then please e-mail me.If you would like some more info about this steel feel free to mail me.

Ron, that's a great idea, I have always thought it would be the ultimate versatile setup - extended E9th and C6th. (For those of us who don't fancy a Double 12. Ed Fulawka has an example on his website, and of course Buddy Emmon's new JCH is the otherway round - 12 string on the C6th neck.

Might be that I change the set-up a little bit.Maybe a U12 on the front neck and a C6 on the back neck.
Haven't made up my mind yet.Don't know if the weight will be to much.Just have to wait and see i guess.

Ron,
Have you played extended E9th? A while ago I thought this was the way I wanted to go but after trying a Sho~Bud S-12 with an extended E9th tuning, I changed my mind. I guess I'm just too old to get used to the feel of those extra two strings. I couldn't find the right strings to pick. I asked Bill Rudolph w/Williams Guitars about a combination 12 and 10 string guitar and he would have built one for me but I had him build me a straight D-10 instead.

Nice thought. But I like to build my own steel guitars. And this way I can build it the way I want it.And if I bought a D12 I would have to make modifications.
The way that I am building this one I don't have to make um.
I also like to use different kinds of wood and steel aloys on this one.
It is just another experiment that came to mind. But I think that this one will make it.
This will be my personal steel when it is ready. It will not be for sale.Could be that it works out great. When it does I probably make more of these guitars.
