I have a triple neck Bigsby 8/10/8 that I've put E9 on the front 8string neck. It has three pedals which I've set up as A,B and third pedal lowers Es. I dropped strings 9 and 10 from the standard copedent, instead opting for the chromatics. Being that there is no low b string and I had enough fingers to have two pulls on the A pedal I put a half tone raise on the Seventh (F#) string. So far it's really working out. Pedals down I have a dominant seventh four chord (seventh string is the Flat 7)and it's quite nice for some single string stuff minor, pentatonic kind of runs on the lower strings.
Anybody else have this setup on an 8 stringer? If so what other chords am I gaining and or losing by tying this raise to the A pedal? I haven't noticed a lot of downsides as long as I stay aware of that pull, but seems like there must be some.

Very interesting! Thanks! That wouldn't work for me as I use the bottom strings for rapid take off stuff. I don't have knee levers either... But it's a very cool solution. Of course the Big E has all the good ideas. The Master. _________________ Mostly Pre-1970 guitars. |
