Could not find Engl (German brand for amps) in the Search. Does anyone have experience in using the ENGL E530 Tube Preamp for psg? If so, what do you think of it?
What would be a good tube preamp for steel that has 1 unit 19"rack size?

Thanks John, been there of course but nothing about use for psg. It is a well received preamp for rock guitar, that is why I wonder if it will suit psg applications as well.

Brad Sarno has the Classic 1 space tube preamp with digital reverb. Voiced very nice with a sweet tube vibe👍

Thanks Len,

Yes I already found that one too. I also found the Mesa Boogie Formula Pre that I think would do the job nicely. Does anyone have experience with this preamp?

You can't go wrong with Mesa Boogie and the Formula Pre is in Blackface territory. I have a Mesa Quad preamp and sounds very nice. I almost sold it but glad I didn't and would have regretted doing so.

I ended up buying the Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp and a TC Electronics G-Major 2 Cool. The Studio is indeed a great and versatile preamp, capable of very clean sounds. Channel switching by the G-Major 2 presets makes it all very handy for both steel and electric guitar.

So, now it is presetting and tweaking time! Whoa!
