I'm not sure of the year of the instrument but it's a Marlen made in South Carolina S-12 which is a rare keyless model. It's the only keyless I've ever seen from this manufacturer. It's an all pull system with 3 raises and two lowers I believe. The pedal action is very smooth and easy. You'll have to set it up to your own copedant as I'm no steel guitar mechanic. The A&B pedals are in the Emmons fashion but the E raises and lowers are on the right knee. See the copedant below... It has a nice birds eve maple body with nearly zero cabinet drop and the keyless tuning head works flawlessly. I'm told that Mr. Stadler bought the keyless head from Joe Kline to make this guitar... Here's some shots and a shot of the tuning currently on the guitar....JH in Va.

I remember really well seeing that guitar @ Stadler's back in the 70s....or it's twin,if there was more than one.It was around the time that Leonard & Bobby built my SD-10...used to love spending Saturdays there. |

If it's still available I'm interested. Never been very good on 10 strings. Maybe 12 is what I've been needing. BTW these were built in Reidsville NC as I remember. Tron loan me some money? Please. |

WHY wasn't this guitar sold in the first hour??.. Are you kidding me??. Do you guys realize just how good a marlen steel is?. As well built or better than anything else in their time, tuning stability, playability thats better than most, great woodwork, great mechanicals, and great tone thats lush and twangy at the same time. A keyless, all pull marlen 12 string in lacquer?. super rare bird. For a thousand bucks??. and its still here? what?... most modern student models cost more.. a LOT more...... _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

Hi Jerry, Sent you an email several days ago. Haven't heard back. BTW,the keyless system is a Kline. I remember going to St Louis in the 80's and seeing the keyless at the Stadler booth. I raced to Joe Kline's booth to tell him someone stole his idea.He laughed and said he showed Leonard how to make it. Amazing how these steel manufactures helped each other. |

Please don't submit any more offers, I'm sorting through the ones I have and trying to get the best thing going for myself as I'm in bad health and can't pack it myself so I'm trying to get a more local sale going.......JH _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

Bob, please close this topic. I can't get it together to close the sale of this steel guitar as I can't get going on the offers I've had. I think I'll just keep it for awhile and see if I can get someone else to take it over for me..... Sorry and thanks......JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |
