Hello: I have a Carter SD-10. It is seven years old and I am the original owner. The left knee lever that raises the 4th and 8th strings (tonic) up a half-step, will raise the note but won't return all of the way, and therefore the string is completely out of tune. Is there anyone who can help me with this?
Thank you,

The first two hairs shaved by Occam's Razor are:
1) Time for lube, as friction between the scissors is causing trouble
2) string ball end or other debris in amongst the changer.
There might also be problems with the lever and cross-shaft.
Take a Phillips head screwdriver and push on the raise scissor, see if the scissor comes back to the stop bar when you release it. If the finger returns when you push it with the screwdriver then the problem is in the pull train. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
