Price lowered!!
My Oahu Iolana D-6 up for sale. It is beautiful and so near perfect shape. New strings, far neck E7th, near neck A6th. It plays and sounds wonderful. Tunings knobs are excellent. This is a 1957 model. Serial number is X82307.
Case is very good shape. String changers are fine but I did not run the strings through them.
I am now only asking $695 plus shipping/ins, paypal and donation to Bob. Paypal or personal check is fine.

To answer a question about the covers over the pickups, they do easily come off by unscrewing the two black plastic covered nuts on each side of each cover.

Folks if you have never seen one of these in person, they are a very beautiful striking looking guitar. This one especially as all the printing on the metal parts is not worn off as on so many guitars. One can hear beautiful music come from this guitar just by looking at it.

Hi folks, had a great question regarding the Stringtones.
These are capable of allowing each neck to to be tuned to 3 different tunings by a flick of the lever.
The neck nearest the player can be C#, E, & A.
The far neck can be C7th, E7th, & C6th.

I do not remember what string gauges one needs on each neck to assure the 6 tunings but there has been a lot of info on the internet regarding these stringtones. One would want to do some searching.

Almost a thousand hits. Lots of lookers, lots of interest. whomever slaps the green down first will have a beautiful guitar that sounds great.

I could not refrain from committing on this guitar. I have two of these, however, mine look some what different. All the Oaho wording is gold along with the signatures on the covers. The keys are peril all crystalized because of age. Mine I believe were made in 1948 only as lap guitars. We took all the Harry Stanley Oaho courses in A major, E7th, C# minor and A minor 7th (C 6th). Also on the standard guitar. Played in international contests in Cleveland, Akron, Chicago, LA twice. Our own late Scotty took these courses.

Looks like L.T. Zinn played one early in his career. Different tuners though.

Bill thanks for that great link on L T Zinn, wonderful information. As Michael alluded to, my Iolana is a Valco product. My first lessons in 1947-8 were by Oahu traveling Oahu teachers and I had an Oahu S-6 with matching amp with the white mother of pearl covering.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as we've all heard.
To me this is one of the most beautiful guitars to come out of the 50's.
