Does anyone know how one would go about talking with someone regarding ordering an Excel steel?
I don't do Facebook, so the fact that there is a Facebook page doesn't help me. Is there a dealer / representative in the US?
I have some special requirements and so buying an existing guitar is not a good option for me (height, copedant).
Thanks,
Jeff |

Check the EXCEL website. Lots of info available. "Excel Pedal Steel Guitars". Got my Excel in Feb.2014, brand new. Zero issues and still hasn't broke a string. Very pleased with mine. Thanks. |

I believe Bill Ferguson is a dealer. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Definitely purchase through a dealer. I ordered one direct many years ago and got nailed with a huge shipping cost and rediculous charge at Customs bringing the guitar in.
Very nice guitar and was sorry I sold it. |

I bought mine recently by going through the website. You have to be sure that you get your communications right and re-check what has been requested over the course of the build. Other than that, I got what I wanted and it's an impressive guitar. Customs is unpredictable and can result in extra work on your end. |

I know Keith Bolog just took delivery of a new D-10 from Excel. You could contact him via the forum and ask how he went about it. I found him very willing to share info on the Excels. I think the biggest concern might be Mitsuo's age - 87, I think? Very interesting instruments, with many innovations. _________________ Bringing steel guitar to the bukid of Negros Oriental! |

I ordered mine last year about this time. I contacted Mitsuo via email. Build time was very quick.
I had it shipped the cheaper method of two offered and it arrived USPS with no customs charges.
Payments were done with bank wires. It pays to shop on that, fees can be expensive.
I was careful to keep my English simple and direct. I had no problem getting what I ordered. He built me a wonderful instrument. |

I own a S12 Excel Superb that I love dearly.
I bought mine already made from Scotty's, but I've emailed Mitsuo afterwards about some things, and he is very responsive, and a pleasure to deal with.
As mentioned, keep in mind the language barrier, and use plain simple English when communicating by email. Thankfully, he understands just fine, because I can't understand one lick of Japanese. Oishi. That's all I know. It means "delicious".
I had no problems. |

I have several Excels...the last 2 I ordered direct from Mitzuo...they each took 1 month to build to my specs. The shipping was $160 from Tokyo to Anchorage...no customs taxes....excellent service and guitars, Larry

I got my E9/C6 directly from Mitsou Feb 2016. I got exactly what I asked for, and it's great. _________________ Franklin D10 8&5, Excel D10 8&5. Both amazing guitars! Bill Stafford is the go to person in the USA.
He and Mitsuo work together very well. _________________ AUTHORIZED George L's, Goodrich, Telonics and Peavey Dealer: I have 2 steels and several amps. While I bought my Excel from Scotty, I've dealt directly with Mitsuo also. He's a great guy and a true gentleman.
He does pretty well with English, which is a good thing, because I don't speak a lick of Japanese.
Only tip I'd give is to keep email communication with him simple and straightforward. No fancy sentence structure, long run-on sentences or esoteric words. Be clear adn to the point.
Go for it, you'll love your guitar. I prize mine. |
