The pics are from my phone so they are pretty fuzzy. The sign says its a Gibson Korina from the early 60's. The salesman told me it was a nice collectable piece ! I asked about why the pickup is located at the nut and he just got all smug. The body looks like the middle leaf from a dinning room table. Nothing is hooked up underneath. Maybe I'll bring by a better camera so you guys can get a close look at this thing. Its for sale at the Guitar Center on 14th st.

Sorry, It still don't top the little red steel on ebay last week but it's close. Looks like sombody got drunk and tried to assmble a Multicord. I can't tell which way the fret board is going. If the fret board is correct to the pickup, then I would say the pedals are just in reverse order. Some steels were made with the tuning keys on the right hand end. One thing for sure,it's not worth that kind of money. |

your reaction was pretty much the same as mine, I guess.
the guy there tried to give me a line about it being a "collectors piece". Yep, a collector's piece of s**t.
I was about to ask him whether he was on something, but I demurred. |

Guitar Center is notorious for wrong information, ignorance, and jacked up prices when it comes to vintage steels.
I've seen a metal body Dobro Model 33 labeled as a "Cyclops", $2100.00 in a Long Island City GC.
I've seen a beat to spit Fender Dual 8 Professional labeled as a Stringmaster, $2400.00 in a NJ GC.
Both times I called attention to these gross inaccuracies. They couldn't care less. |

Rodger,
The fretboard is going the wrong way in relation to the pickup.
Nick, Its the same guitar you saw.
I have never seen a body like that on an eletraharp. The input is a very crude hole dug into the oposite side from the tone controls. I didn't see any indication underneath the guitar that the linkage could possibly work.
Could it be that somebody tried to make a lefty ?

Just for what it's worth---on ebay, the seller "gcrep" with a number after it stands for "guitar center rep"----it is their auction. And their starting prices seem to be fishing for suckers. |

Actually the price is a little misleading. It's really only $99. The other $2500 is the coolness surcharge GC feels inclined to add for the honor of doing business with them. |

My money would be on that red Sears Silvertone with amp in the case that's in the background. It was designed by Danelectro and highly collectable!
I still have mine.

Hey, ain't nothing as good as bashing one of the world's musical meccas. And how's Arizona been lately; been mostly playing to a bunch of cactus, I guess.

Well guys about a month ago I was in a music store in my area looking at amps. The owner has been collecting various amps and has a couple of steel guitars. After showing me some of his stuff he told me to look a particular instrument. I had never seen another like it. It was the same type instrument as in the pix here. The difference was this one had Hank Williams inlaid on the front apron. It had the pickup at the key head like in this pix. It was in a case and not set up so I don't know if it had pedals or not. This man did not know the history or anything about it. The one in this pix is not the same one I saw but it would seem as though at least two of them were built. |

Didn't the multi-kords have cables ? This was maybe an Electraharp at some point. I think Roger is on to something with the pedals being reversed somehow. I might be wrong about the fretboard. If I get the nerve I'll check it out again.
And Jody, The hookers are long gone from 14th st. Even way over on the west side its 3 star restaurants, art galleries and upscale clothing stores. The last hold out was a bagel place called Izzy's. Now that place was a real freak show after hours ! Its long gone. If you want hookers you might have to walk up 9th av to 16th st.

If you look at the set up of this steel the pickup would be next to the tuning pan.
So GC might have a "real" instrument of some sort after all.

It's a Gibson EH-150 Electraharp.. I had one...The pedals are meant to be on the left of the player, but in this case are mounted incorrectly.(Upside down)

Why is the pup on the left?
It should be on the right.
Normally the volume and tone knobs are on the right too.
Just try and play this thing on the first fret without your sleeve catching the knobs.
There is only one conclusion.....Basil is Right.
The pedals are mounted upside down.
If they are mounted the right way the whole thing should be playable.

A few years ago I traded for the #3 Gibson Electraharp. {I haven't been able to confirm it}It looks a lot like the guitar posted. I understand they were going to get sued by Multi-Kord and stopped building this design.Maybe someone out there has more info on the Co around this time.ED Naylor Steel Guitar Works. |

That axe is definitely set up for a lefty !
Look at the strings. The only problem a lefty would have with that setup is the short pedal is the farthest from his leg....JD |

This guitar is so backwards it deserves to be on the cover of an old Emmons album. |

. . ya sure you ain't looking at this thing 'backwards' . . . ?
These old guitars had their changers directly above the pedals, where, on todays steels, we have our tuning keys - and, this old guitars tuning keys are to the right of the players right hand, where we (today) normally have our changer.
