I am considering letting go of my 75 push-pull lacquer guitar with bolt-on changer. But before I do, I would like to know more about these particular guitars, which may help me decided if I really want to sell it or not...

Curiosity has got the best of me, and I would like to find out if Emmons built quite a few of these style guitars, or less than I might have imagined.

I am referring to push pull lacquer guitars, w/wood necks with bolt on changers, NOT metal neck cut tail models. Also, I believe most or all of these may be fatbacks.

If you have, one post a photo if you like.

Thanks, Mike

I like mica, myself, as well...but the other day I had the chance to A/B my mica/aluminum p/p with a laq/wood neck/bolt-on. To my surprise, the laq gtr was every bit as bright and clear as my mica...there was hardly any difference at all.
And man, was it pretty...blonde.
Anyway...most, if not all, original laq p/p's were bolt-ons & fatbacks.
This is one of the nicest I've seen.

But back to Mike's post... Mike I would not sell this guitar because I think what you would get out of it and what it is actually worth are gonna be two different numbers. Which is exactly why I don't want to sell my push pull. I would sell it, but I couldn't get what I think it's worth. Hang on to it!!

I totally agree, Tim. Wish it was mine. Here's another pic... you can see the small amount of fade to dark in the finish at the edges of the body...very classy, IMHO.

Thanks for all the helpful replies and good advice. The photos sure indicate that Emmons built some very fine looking lacquer cabinets when asked to!

Damir, Mike, and Tim, you guys convinced me not to make a poorly thought out decision... Thanks Very Happy

Lets keep this thread going to see how many more of these beauties are still up and running.

One of the few solid birdseye guitars they made. Nearly all were veneer to preserve the brighter straight maple sound.

This is, of course, a Wraparound.

This is a Ron Lashley "out the back door special." Notice the un-Emmons features that Lashley used on his own guitars before 1963.

This guitar was sold in 1965/66. It has some early parts, though, including two of the first fifty fretboards. much later bellcranks, though -- late 1965 style.

I am sorry, I see that is misleading what I wrote above. That guitar with the black top decks is a late 1965 or 1966 guitar, but not sold through the Factory. It was picked up at Ron Lashley's house.

The pre Emmons guitars were copies of Sho-Bud Permanents, just as the Seymour guitars at that time were.

Hey Skip that Blondie in the middle of your post (the one with the fretboard emblem on the pedal rack)is one that I got as a basket case (literally). I did a
complete relic resto on it and LOVED it. Life has its twists and turns, and I had to sell it (cheap). Thats one I wish i could have kept..the one that got away.

Thanks for the pic..made me feel good (and nostalgic) to see it.

Happy Holidays to all!

John, you did a nice job on that one...shame it got away. I let nice wood neck/laq Loafer (that I bought new in '76) go, and regretted it.
Since we're on the subject, I sometimes wonder whatever happened to this blonde that was on the back cover of the Emmons catalog...
