Just purchased a Remington S8, and need some suggestions on amp choices.
Currently use a 73 Silverface Twin with my Sho-Bud Professional. I bought the Remington to cut down on weight and wanted to downsize the amp also.
Budget is $350-$500
Thanks |

A New "Fender Vibrolux Reverb Re-issue" or "Roland Cube 80GX". I use my Fender Vibrolux all the time. |

I use a Roland 80xl. Works well with all my electrics. Many choices for effects. My only complaint is the acoustic mode doesn't sound right to me. |

I really like my Nash.112 for pedal steel, but prefer my Roland Cube 80GX for lap steel. Lots of usable effects also. Weight of the 80GX is 30 pounds. The 40GX would also work well for lap steel. The tone is the same as the bigger amp, and only weighs 22 pounds. |

I don't know if they are available in the US but I am personally very keen to try a DV Mark Little Jazz. I met a jazz guitarist who owns one and he says it has a lot of headroom and volume for such a tiny amp. It weighs 15.21 lbs!
Same guy also owns and highly rates their head / cabinet solutions and said they suit other music styles very well including country. I am struggling to find a dealer near me but I will report back as soon as I've tested!

David, Another amp to consider for lap steel at a very affordable price, is the new Boss Katana amp. Don't know how they sound, but they are made in the same facility as the Roland cube amps, and they are priced lower than the cubes. |
