Is there enough difference between bars to really count. also volume control and bar combinations. I have been playing 16 years and always fighting sound.

I'm still pretty darn sold on the incredibly high quality, hard-chrome plating on the BJS bars. They are very low-friction on the strings and have a toughness that's pretty amazing. And the build quality too is just top notch.

Just be sure to find the size you like. 7/8" is standard. 15/16" is a bit fatter and plenty of people like the warm tone and long sustain they bring out. I have both and love them both depending on my mood.

The Tribo-tone is pretty cool too for a different type of bar. And there are some really nice stainless steel bars being made too, but I find that when using stainless strings, the stainless bar has more friction than the hard-chrome BJS.

But if you're chasing tone, there are a lot of other factors to consider too.

I like either hard chrome or bright brass, and the new Ezee-Slide from Basil Henriques is a good one.
I compared a mess of different bars in this video here, in my opinion, the BJS is on par with the chrome over brass: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=--1I9UOHISU

What kind of bar do you have currently? The difference between good bars is pretty subtle. Eg, if you would currently have an Emmons bar, a BJS won't solve your problem.

I have tried Dunlop, Ernie Ball just to name a few. And the best one I have and I whole heartedly endorse is the Tone Bar that Glenn Porter makes. I like the fact that there is very little to no bar on string noise. And with my steel tone is what it's all about. for years I have used a half inch bar, Now I use a one inch, and the tone I get is out of this world.
I know there are others that may be better, but for the money. Glenn makes a good product.
