I have a Gibson BR9 and an old Oahu lap steel that I want to hang on the wall (I suspect I'll play them more often if I can just grab them off the wall vs. digging the case out from underneath a table where they are currently stored).

The typical guitar wall hanger seems like it would use the lap steel's tuning keys to hold it up, and I'd rather not do that.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Dave

I've used various coated wire to make a loop to hang instruments, usually on the peghead somewhere, and I make sure the nails are in studs, not just in drywall.

I've hung mine by the tuning keys with either wire or heavy twine for years with no ill effects or mishaps. Then again, I don't have any real expensive or rare guitars either. YMMV

Now that's how to use the hardware store items....like I did.

I do prefer the stiffer wire to twine or rope.

That's quite a blue MOT on the one on the left!
